Annette Morgan

Executive Director, Dze L K'ant Friendship Centre

A proud member of the Gitxsan Nation, Annette Morgan has dedicated her career of 25+ years to First Nations people and communities not only in northern BC, but provincially and nationally. This includes serving as elected President of the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres, from 2011 to 2018. Her progressive leadership, experience, cultural knowledge, continual education, and tireless work facilitates ever-evolving social development, programs, services, and resources for Aboriginal people, as well as the communities served.

Annette works with various levels of government, First Nations, and community stakeholders, a strong network of professional relationships, and resources garnering new opportunities, ongoing partnerships, negotiating and collaborating for economic development, as well as financial and budgetary feasibility. Through her expert analysis, strategic organizational direction, mediating and negotiating skills, Annette is at the forefront of financial growth and program implementation; fundraising for support and expansion of existing and future programs.

With extensive knowledge of the community, region, government, and people she serves, Annette is not only well-informed of principles, practices, and standards of social and regulatory programs (non-profit and community sector), but also understanding of social issues facing First Nations people and communities influencing and affecting homelessness, poverty, and lack of affordable housing. Her team leadership of a meticulously hired, multi-disciplinary team seek to deliver tangible resolution to ongoing housing problems, working together towards attaining and providing affordable, safe housing and related services.

Outside of the Dze L K'ant Friendship Centre, but always at the heart of service to others, Annette presently sits on the Independent Aboriginal Housing Management Board of Directors, and was re-elected as a Municipal Councillor for the Village of Telkwa, where she's served since 2014.
